Music: Sun Sep 14

This Sunday Adam Kent performs music by Unitarian composers Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) and Béla Bartók (1881-1945) to complement our service devoted to Unitarian Faith. Both composers were gifted pianists who created a substantial body of work for the instrument. In addition, the Norwegian Grieg and the Hungarian Bartók frequently sought inspiration in the folk music of their respective regions of Europe, casting an orally transmitted tradition in the harmonic and stylistic language of their eras.

Music for Sun Sep 14:

Homeward, Op. 62, No. 6 -- Edvard Grieg
Wedding Day at Troldhaugen, Op. 65, No. 6 -- Grieg
15 Hungarian Melodies: 2. Andante -- Béla Bartók
Notturno, Op. 54, No. 4 -- Grieg
Rumanian Folk Dances (Dances with Sticks; Waistband Dance; On the Spot; Hornpipe; Rumanian Polka; Quick Dance) -- Bartók

Adam Kent, piano
